The Mathias Umeh Foundation was established by the Umeh family in honor of Mathias Umeh and his lifelong dedication to the people and community of Okigwe, Nigeria.

Mathias held a deep love and pride for his home village and was a highly respected member of the community throughout his life. That same connection to Okigwe has been carried forward by his children and extended family, who remain committed to supporting the village and its future generations.

Over the years, members of the Umeh family have relocated across the globe, building lives in Sweden, Germany, Ireland, Finland, Canada, the United States, and beyond. Despite the distance, they have never lost sight of their roots or their responsibility to give back to the community that helped shape their family's story.

For many years, family members have gathered through monthly virtual meetings to identify needs within the village, coordinate community initiatives, and raise funds internally to support local projects and residents. What began as a family-led effort has steadily grown into something much larger.

As word of these efforts spread, extended family members, friends, and supporters were inspired to join the mission. Their generosity and commitment have enabled the Foundation to expand its reach and increase its impact throughout the community.

Today, the Mathias Umeh Foundation is focused on creating lasting opportunities through educational scholarships, community development initiatives, and public works projects that improve the quality of life for the people of Okigwe. Our current goal is to provide educational sponsorships for students in the village while continuing to invest in programs that strengthen the community as a whole.

We believe that meaningful change begins with people who care. By honoring Mathias Umeh's legacy of service, compassion, and community leadership, we are working together to create opportunities that will benefit generations to come.
